The Roommate – a short review

30 Sep

When college student Sara (Minka Kelly) meets her new roommate Rebecca (Leighton Meester), she is positively surprised that the other girl seems to be so eager to be friends with her. But it does not take Sara long to find out that Rebecca’s idea of being friends is not common. Rebecca is so obsessed with Sara that she does not want to share her. And if something or someone gets in her way, she will find a way to get rid of it.

‘The Roommate’ suffers from stereotypical characterizations and an unfortunate pacing. A pity, the story could have worked very well and the actors aren’t that bad either. But the way it is, it’s just a mediocre flick that won’t leave a lasting impression. On the upside, the soundtrack is quite good. And the film offers some really nice eye candy, such as Danneel Ackles (former Danneel Harris), Cam Gigandet, Nina Dobrev and the two lead actresses themselves.
